Clambering the cliffs...

'Steps in Holyrood Park'

Jim McIntosh has been in touch to say that he has just posted the winning photos from the BSBI Scottish Photographic competition held at last year’s SAM. They are all on the Scottish website along with details of the 2014 competition, which this year will be organised by Claudia Ferguson-Smyth.

Last year, 70 of you attending the Scottish Annual Meeting took up our invitation to view the images on display and vote for your favourite in each of three categories. The overall winner was the image on the right, taken by Derek Christie and entitled “Steps in Holyrood Park” in the Clamber the Cliffs class.

For the 2014 competition, there will be just two classes 1) Plants – including higher plants, ferns, lichens, mosses and fungi 2) People – well, with some botanical connection. The BSBI Scotland webpage has details on how to apply. The closing date isn't until October, so you can spend the whole summer taking lovely photos and entering your best shots into the competition. The winner will be decided by a vote by those attending the Annual Meeting, and the winning photographs will be published on the BSBI website, the BSBI Scottish Newsletter and - hopefully - right here!
