BSBI New Year Plant Hunt in the media II

Today's coverage of the BSBI New Year Plant Hunt kicked off, appropriately enough, with the Today programme on BBC Radio 4. Plant Hunt co-founder Tim was interviewed by James Naughtie about the amazing number of plants you all recorded in flower, and how this varied across the years.

Catch the whole thing again here on iPlayer or try this short clip.

The Plant Hunt also appeared in the Daily Mail this morning and in the Telegraph, and was picked up by news round-up sites thanks to the coverage on the BBC website. BSBI is actually on the main BBC News page at the moment, with a link to the Science & Environment page. Don't know when I'll get a chance to write that again, so let's savour the moment!

But the treat of the day for me was this clip which Tim found, of his 2012 interview with Sian Lloyd for BBC Radio Wales. So this is how the Plant Hunt all started!

And some of you have asked for the list of plants recorded so here it is - Ryan and I have put in the common names too - please let us know if you spot any errors.

The stunning images on this page were taken by Michael Donovan at Black Head, near Kinsale, Co. Cork after the Plant Hunt had ended. But I think News & Views is much more palatable when adorned by wild flowers - so if you have images as lovely as these, please send them to me at louise.marsh@bsbi.org and we can share them here. And thank you to Michael for sharing these Corn Marigolds.
